Country star Miranda Lambert did not mince words when casually singing her way through Vegas Saturday night. Midway through her show “Velvet Rodeo” at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Lambert unexpectedly halted the performance when she noticed two audience members more concerned with capturing the moment on their phones than paying attention to her lyrics.

“I’m gonna stop right here for a second,” Lambert said before taking the opportunity to call out the ladies for not engaging in the moment. “These girls are worried about their selfies and not listening to the song,” Lambert said. “It’s pissing me off a little bit. We’re here to hear some country music tonight. And I’m singing some country damn music.”

The audience erupted with cheers as Lambert made it known that the music mattered more than the pictures and selfies. She even offered the ladies a chance to start at the beginning of the song and pay attention, saying “We’re good... Shall we start again?” before resuming her performance.

The fans have since taken to TikTok to voice their opinions on the incident, with some believing the country singer was out of line for halting the show. Others seemed to agree with Lambert, defending her reaction and citing that the ballads are sacred and should be listened to without distraction.

While Lambert could have exercised some patience during her address, this isn’t the first time she’s been vocal about audience distractions, previously calling out fans who talk during her concerts. One can only assume the “Hell on Heels” singer wasn’t going to let a selfie take away her chance to connect with her fans, something many country singers strive for each night.

Beloved by many, it’s no wonder why Miranda Lambert is legally considered “One of the Greats.” A popular act in the country music circuit since 2004, Lambert is often criticized for spreading her message on a platform that tends to lack diversity and representation. Taking advantage of her spotlight, she reminded the audience that country music matters and there’s nothing wrong with pausing for a second to enjoy it. With that being said, it’ll be interesting to see if Lambert is as vocal when it comes to distracting fans during future performances.
