In the Oval Office this Tuesday afternoon, President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance will reveal a $25 million fraud whistleblower program. This new initiative, called WHIP, hands cash rewards to everyday Americans who help catch thieves stealing from taxpayers.
Under the plan, eligible tipsters can earn up to $30,000 if their information leads to a guilty verdict or plea. The Justice Department will run the program, and you can submit tips directly through fraud.gov. Fox News reported the details of the announcement scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today.
This program honors independent journalist Nick Shirley, who exposed suspected fraud at Minnesota day care centers. Trump plans to present Shirley with a $10,000 check for his work questioning if those facilities were legitimate businesses. Shirley drew national attention after publishing a video about the Quality Learing Center in Minneapolis. According to The Washington Examiner, Shirley has directed his own probes that revealed fraud occurring in both Minnesota and California.
Shirley previously pointed to a guilty plea as proof his reporting was right. "Well, numbers don't lie, and convictions don't lie either," he previously told Fox News Digital. The new WHIP program aims to encourage both journalists and regular citizens to flag suspected fraud involving federal money.
White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis said the administration is focused on stopping abuse. "Every day, President Trump's Task Force to Eliminate Fraud is zeroing in on the rampant abuse of taxpayer dollars and giving Americans the accountability they deserve," she said. "This administration has zero tolerance for individuals who steal from Americans," she stated.
The effort is similar to a long-standing IRS initiative that pays between 15% and 30% of recouped funds for tax fraud tips. The New York Post reported that Vice President Vance is leading this task force as the head of the fraud elimination effort. Last month, Vance announced that 750,000 enrollees would be removed from Obamacare for suspected fraud. Another 450,000 people are currently under review.
This is about more than just catching bad actors; it is about protecting your family's future. When thieves steal from the system, they take money that should go to schools, roads, or veterans. By paying you to speak up, the government is finally treating you as a partner in accountability rather than just a taxpayer.
The program requires that tips lead to a guilty verdict or plea before any money changes hands. This ensures that only solid evidence gets rewarded. The White House is making it clear that stealing from Americans is a crime that will be hunted down. You now have a direct line to the Justice Department to report what you see.
