The Senate Homeland Security Committee voted to hold Dr. Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress on Thursday. Barbra Streisand immediately called the move a "disgraceful witch hunt" in a post on Bluesky.
Streisand took to the social media platform known as Bluesky to defend the former health official. According to her statement, Senate Republicans have conducted a shameful witch hunt against Dr. Anthony Fauci. The 84-year-old star added that "Dr Fauci is an American hero."
She claimed the GOP is trying to rewrite history regarding the pandemic that killed one million Americans. Streisand insisted Fauci was a "voice of reason" who helped speed up vaccine development. Her post sparked a wave of support from other users on the site.
One user named HowardIan328 said, "I don't quite understand why there are people who don't follow the science." Another supporter, Darbrina, argued that Senator Rand Paul is simply jealous of Fauci's achievements. A user named Gato918 added that they have trusted Fauci since 1972.
This vote happened because Fauci used his Fifth Amendment right to avoid testifying before lawmakers. He received a blanket pardon from former President Joe Biden before the committee could question him. Senator Rand Paul led the charge to hold him in contempt for this refusal to answer.
Reports from Breitbart note that private notes Fauci logged on a government server proved he lied to the public. These notes showed he knew about the virus before the outbreak was declared a pandemic. The Senate vote was a direct response to these findings of dishonesty.
Streisand's defense ignores the fact that Fauci's production company took $200,000 in federal PPP loans. RedState reports she used some of that cash to pay her personal gardener at her Malibu mansion. This raises serious questions about who really benefited from the government's response.

An inquiry into possible self-dealing that occurred during the pandemic was also initiated by Florida. A federal pardon does not protect anyone from state-level criminal charges. The reckoning over Fauci's lies is not slowing down anytime soon.
