The long-running clash between Donald Trump and Rosie O’Donnell added another chapter this week, this time centered on a violent incident that authorities say could have ended far worse.
O’Donnell, speaking in a TikTok video, cast doubt on what officials described as an attempted assassination targeting the president and multiple cabinet members. She framed the event as exaggerated, questioning how a gathering that included top-level officials could have operated without what she described as sufficient security. Her remarks leaned heavily on suspicion, suggesting inconsistencies in both planning and response, though she did not provide evidence to support those claims.

This is not the first time O’Donnell has raised doubts about such incidents. She previously questioned details surrounding an earlier attempt on Trump’s life in 2024, focusing on the nature of his injury and the widely circulated images taken immediately afterward.
In that instance, she speculated about whether the wound came from a bullet or debris and pointed to what she described as a lack of visible long-term damage. Her commentary also scrutinized Trump’s reaction in the aftermath, particularly a photograph showing him raising his fist.
The latest incident unfolded Saturday night at the Washington Hilton during the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. According to authorities, a 31-year-old man identified as Cole Allen traveled from Torrance, California, to Washington, D.C., allegedly carrying a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives. Investigators say he had written a manifesto outlining his intent to target administration officials, listing them in order of priority.

Law enforcement intercepted Allen before he could reach the main event area. Reports indicate he fired two shots while attempting to breach a security checkpoint on an upper floor. Secret Service agents responded quickly, subduing him. One agent was struck by gunfire but avoided serious injury due to a bulletproof vest. No other injuries were reported.
In remarks following the incident, Trump addressed the broader climate surrounding political violence. He called for Americans across political lines to resolve disagreements without resorting to force. His comments referenced the diverse political affiliations present at the event, emphasizing what he described as a moment of unity despite deep divisions.
