Mandel Clarifies Story About Wife’s Accident

Howie Mandel, the beloved judge from "America's Got Talent," recently shed light on a scary incident involving his wife Terry during a trip to Las Vegas. The 68-year-old TV personality had previously recounted finding Terry in a pool of blood after a night out, leading many to believe she had been drinking excessively. However, during an appearance on TMZ LIVE, Mandel clarified the real cause behind her fall at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.

"First of all, she wasn't drunk," Mandel explained. "She's worried that people will think she has an alcohol problem. She doesn't. The truth is, she took gummies." Emphasizing the point, Mandel stated, "She was on pot, not alcohol."

Mandel explained that misconceptions arose from his initial description of the night. He had described them as "tipsy," which many interpreted as being due to alcohol. In reality, Terry's intoxication was due to consuming cannabis edibles.

Recalling the frightening event, Mandel shared that Terry got up in the middle of the night and fell, resulting in a severe head injury. "It was really scary. I put her on the bed and tried to give her ice, but I didn't have any, so I used cans of soda," Mandel recounted. Terry, however, was not receptive to this impromptu remedy, throwing the cans across the room. It wasn't until Mandel saw her exposed skull that he realized the seriousness of her injuries.

Panicked, Mandel called the hotel front desk for help. Security was dispatched to their room, and upon seeing the scene—Terry covered in blood and soda cans scattered around—they suspected domestic violence. "They had me against the TV, and Terry was on the bed covered in blood with Coke cans everywhere," Mandel remembered.

The situation escalated when Terry, dazed and confused, kept telling security she didn't know what had happened. Mandel urged her to explain, but her vague responses only fueled their suspicions. "She said, ‘He tried to put them on my head,' and I was like, 'No, no, no!'"

Eventually, Terry started laughing as she realized the absurdity of the situation, which helped to defuse the tension. Despite the frightening ordeal, both Howie and Terry were able to clear up the misunderstanding. After a trip to the hospital, Terry was on the mend, and her sense of humor remained intact. Back at the hotel, she teased Howie in front of another couple, joking, "Howie, I promise I'll be a good girl."

Mandel emphasized the importance of exercising caution after a night of partying, especially in unfamiliar, dark hotel rooms. "The lesson here is, if you've been drinking or smoking or taking gummies, turn on a light if you get up in the middle of the night," co-host Charles Latibeaudiere advised.

Reflecting on the incident, Mandel concluded with a laugh, "I think the takeaway from this is marriage isn't easy."

Mandel first shared this story on "LIVE with Kelly and Mark," assuring the hosts that Terry had fully recovered. "She is absolutely perfect," he said. "There is not a scar. She is beautiful."
