Congressman Helps Evacuate 10 Americans Stuck In Haiti

In a successful rescue mission, Rep. Cory Mills, a Republican from Florida, helped evacuate a group of 10 Americans from Haiti amidst the ongoing turmoil in the country. This marks the third rescue mission of U.S. citizens during a foreign crisis under the Biden administration.

According to Rep. Mills, this mission highlights a disturbing trend under President Biden's leadership – the continual jeopardization of American lives. Pointing to his previous rescue missions in Afghanistan and Israel, Mills criticized the Biden administration for abandoning Americans in crisis situations.

The 10 Americans were employees at the Have Faith Orphanage in Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti. The U.S. military was called in over the weekend by the State Department to provide security at the U.S. Embassy and evacuate non-essential personnel. The State Department has stated that it will continue to monitor the situation and consider its options, including the deployment of forces to help with embassy security.

According to Matt Miller, a spokesperson for the State Department, they do not have a definitive count of the number of Americans still in Haiti who wish to leave. However, they have advised U.S. citizens to monitor local news and information and leave when it is safe to do so.

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan welcomed Haiti's Acting Prime Minister Ariel Henry's decision to step down and facilitate a transitional presidential council. He believes this move is in the best interest of the Haitian people and will help bring order to the country.

During a meeting in Jamaica, Caribbean leaders also agreed to provide financial assistance to create a police coalition from Eastern Africa and aid money to help with the ongoing crisis in Haiti. Sullivan stated that discussions about potential future measures were positive and encouraging, with the main focus being on supporting the current efforts.

Congresswoman Lisa McClain, a Republican from Michigan, expressed her gratitude to Rep. Mills for his efforts in rescuing Americans, including some from her constituency. She criticized the State Department for offering no real assistance to stranded Americans and commended Mills for taking matters into his own hands and rescuing them.

Mills, a combat veteran, has previous experience in rescue missions, including evacuating an American family from Afghanistan and 32 Americans from Israel during travel restrictions. In his op-ed for Fox News Digital, Mills criticized the Biden administration for their broken promise to never leave behind Americans in crisis situations.

Neither the State Department nor the National Security Council responded to a request for comment on Mills' criticism. As the situation in Haiti continues to escalate, the focus remains on the safety and well-being of American citizens in the country.

Through his heroic actions, Rep. Mills has brought hope to the rescued Americans and their families. However, there are still countless Americans in Haiti who are in need of assistance and are yet to be rescued. The Biden administration must take immediate action to ensure the safety and well-being of all American citizens in Haiti. Time is of the essence, and any delay could have severe consequences for those left behind. As the situation in Haiti remains volatile, it is essential for the U.S. government to prioritize the safety and protection of its citizens and provide assistance and support to those in need.
