Walz Comments During Event With Newsom Stir Conversation

How many times have we heard the accusation, repeated over and over again by Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, the Democrats, and the media, that Donald Trump poses a threat to democracy or the Constitution itself? It’s a claim that has become the go-to talking point whenever they need to rally their base or distract from their own flaws. But, ironically, it’s these same people who seem to struggle the most with understanding—or respecting—the principles that the Constitution is built upon.

Take Kamala Harris’s recent appearance with Howard Stern. During this baffling interview, Harris, arguably one of the least impressive presidential candidates we've ever seen, accused Trump of being too weak to stand up for the American people.

Let’s not forget that Trump has faced far worse and stood firm, enduring harsh criticism, legal battles, and even physical threats during his time in office. It’s not Trump who is weaponizing the justice system to go after his political adversaries, attempting to silence speech, or working to undermine the legitimacy of the Supreme Court.

And while Harris was busy fumbling her words with Stern, her running mate, Governor Tim Walz, was calling for the abolition of the Electoral College—a core institution designed to balance the interests of smaller states against those of larger ones. Walz's comments came during a campaign fundraiser at none other than California Governor Gavin Newsom's residence, where he openly advocated for a shift to a national popular vote. This wasn’t a one-off slip of the tongue; Walz has consistently voiced his desire to dismantle the Electoral College in favor of a system that would hand even more power to states like California and New York.

When Walz argues for the elimination of the Electoral College, it reveals a fundamental misunderstanding—or perhaps outright disregard—for why the Founders implemented this system in the first place. The Electoral College exists to ensure that the voices of smaller states aren’t drowned out by the sheer population numbers of a few large states. Without it, the presidential election could effectively be decided by the preferences of just a handful of urban centers, leaving rural and less populated areas with little to no influence in national decisions.

This push to abolish the Electoral College also reeks of desperation. It’s almost as if the Democrats are preemptively making excuses for a possible election loss, signaling that they know the numbers may not be in their favor. Their eagerness to change the rules of the game whenever it doesn’t suit them is a far greater threat to democracy than any of the accusations they hurl at Trump. It’s a strategy designed not to empower voters but to consolidate their own grip on power.

And let’s talk about the response from the Harris-Walz campaign following Walz’s remarks. The campaign was quick to jump into damage control mode, spinning a narrative that this wasn’t an "official" stance. They released a statement that was almost as convoluted and empty as some of Kamala Harris’s own word salads. They claimed that Walz's comments were just a nod to his supporters and that he fully supports the quest for 270 electoral votes. The mental gymnastics required to follow their logic would leave anyone dizzy.

What’s even more ridiculous is that this isn’t Walz’s first misstep when it comes to constitutional issues. He’s been caught multiple times misunderstanding or misrepresenting fundamental rights, like the First Amendment. His track record shows a troubling pattern of ignorance or indifference toward the very foundations of American governance. And now, as he and Harris try to run a tightrope campaign, it’s clear that they’re not even on the same page.

It’s almost laughable to imagine the behind-the-scenes conversations between Harris and Walz. How many times must she have shaken her head at yet another unforced error by her running mate? But let’s be real: even Walz’s missteps aren’t the only obstacles facing this campaign. Kamala Harris has done more to undermine her own credibility than any gaffe from Walz could ever manage.
