Things went wrong at a high school football game in Minnesota. On October 2, shooting happened in the parking lot outside Eden Prairie High School, according to the Daily Wire. Two young men, ages 18 and 17, were hurt. They were not expected to die from their wounds.
Local police think Somali gangs were behind the violence. The game got cancelled right away. The homecoming dance planned for the next night was called off too.
President Trump brought this up at a rally in Youngstown, Ohio. He wanted people to see what is happening. Addressing the gathering, he stated that during the previous week, violent Somali gang members fired upon two individuals in the high school parking lot while a football game was underway.
Just over a week later, the suspect was released. The 18-year-old gunman, Adam Abdihakeem Adam, posted a $10,000 cash bond. The White House announced that a Radical Left judge instantly issued a no-condition bail for him. Trump called the situation a disaster.
He said the country cannot stand for this kind of chaos. Trump argued that some people come here and then tell us how to run our country. He said they drive up taxes and health care costs. He claimed they cheat on everything.
Trump criticized Rep. Ilhan Omar. He called her a disaster. He said she comes from a country without law and order. He warned that if Democrats get control again, they will immediately reopen our borders.
While talking about Minnesota, Trump also spoke about a place called Somaliland. He said it is a totally different country from Somalia.
He suggested they should change the name immediately. He joked that some people think they are in Somalia where they do not have pants to wear. He noted that others arrive here and drive in BMWs and Mercedes.
Somaliland officials were happy to hear his words. Their Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press release. They said the nation-state has its own internationally defined border. They clarified that the entity possesses its own constitution, a democratically elected government, and foreign relations.
Somaliland President Abdiraham Mohamed Abdullahi called Trump a great man. The press release said his remarks affirm a longstanding reality. The report highlighted that Somaliland has managed its own affairs for over three decades.
Somaliland won formal recognition from Israel in 2025. The region has struggled to completely separate from Somalia due to corruption, terrorism, and piracy.
The contrast between the two places is sharp. One side sees violence and open borders. The other side sees a stable government with its own laws. Trump made it clear he prefers the second option.
He cautioned that foreign thieves might loot the state budget.
Somaliland expressed gratitude for his acknowledgement of their sovereignty. They stated this affirmation comes alongside their partnership with Taiwan. The government said it is committed to peaceful relations with its neighbours.
