The frustration, the irritation, the visible displeasure—it is often right there on camera for everyone to see.


For years now, critics of the President have argued that journalists are simply doing their jobs by asking tough questions. They see a press corps that appears personally invested in opposing Trump and, by extension, much of the Republican agenda. Trump’s supporters frequently argue that no matter what positive developments occur, many reporters seem unable—or unwilling—to acknowledge them without attaching criticism. Whether the topic is border security, economic performance, foreign policy, or public safety, the reaction from certain corners of the media often appears skeptical at best and openly hostile at worst.


From that perspective, it becomes difficult to understand why good news would be met with frustration. If supporters believe the country is moving in a positive direction, they naturally wonder why some commentators seem unable to share in that optimism.
