Trump Orders Law Enforcement Surge In DC

Well, Washington, D.C. is about to get a whole lot more crowded with badges and federal jackets — and no, it’s not another political protest. President Donald Trump just signed off on a full-blown federal sweep of the nation’s capital, ordering agencies from the FBI to ICE to hit the streets for seven straight days starting at midnight Friday.

The White House says this is about stopping the violent crime surge that’s been terrorizing residents, tourists, and lawmakers alike. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt didn’t mince words: “Starting tonight, there will be no safe harbor for violent criminals in D.C.” And if that sounds like a warning shot, it’s because it is.

This isn’t just policy — it’s personal. The trigger for Trump’s move came after the vicious attack on Edward Coristine, better known to friends as “Big Balls,” a former Department of Government Efficiency staffer. In the early hours of Sunday, Coristine stepped in to protect a woman from an attempted carjacking in Logan Circle. Police say as many as eight teens surrounded them. Coristine shoved the woman into her car to shield her, confronted the mob, and wound up beaten bloody for his trouble.

The story caught fire after Elon Musk and others posted about it online, with Trump blasting D.C.’s leadership on Truth Social. His gripe? Gangs of juvenile offenders roam free because they know they’ll be back on the street almost instantly, thanks to city policies that treat them more like misguided youth than violent criminals.

And that’s where newly minted D.C. Attorney Jeanine Pirro steps in. She’s been hammering the city council’s “Second Chance Act” and “Incarceration Reduction Amendment” for letting repeat offenders skate. “They’re not considered criminals,” Pirro told Laura Ingraham. “They go to family court, where the effort is rehabilitation. The president is right — they’ve got to stop their coddling.”

Critics of Trump’s crackdown are already chirping about “historically low” crime rates in the city. But anyone paying attention knows those numbers are about as reliable as a campaign promise in an election year. In a sanctuary city, you can’t brag about crime stats when a chunk of your residents — and perpetrators — are, as the left likes to say, “undocumented.”
