Trump Comments Weights In If FBI Will Be Used In Texas Redistricting Standoff

Well, well, well — grab the popcorn because the great Texas standoff just turned into a full-blown constitutional showdown, with private planes, George Soros cash, and lawmakers on the lam. This isn’t just legislative drama — this is political theater at its most unhinged, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.

Here’s the score: more than 50 Texas House Democrats have fled the state — again — this time to stop Republicans from pushing through a new congressional map that could flip five House seats to the GOP. That’s right. Five seats. In a razor-thin majority in Washington, D.C., that’s not just a number — that’s a potential House majority swing.

So what did the Dems do? They packed their bags, hopped on a private CommuteAir jet, and scattered to blue states like Illinois and New York, where they’re currently hiding out and running up bills they can’t afford. Enter Robert “Beto” O’Rourke and George Soros — the left-wing ATM machines you knew were lurking somewhere behind the curtain.

Beto’s PAC, “Powered by People,” is now literally paying the bills for these runaway lawmakers. We’re talking plane fares, hotel rooms, food tabs, and now $500-a-day fines for skipping the special session. All covered, courtesy of Beto’s $3.5 million war chest.

And Soros? His Texas Majority PAC is fueling a national fundraising blitz to keep these absconding legislators comfy while they dodge their constitutional duties. Why? Because their “Blue Texas” initiative aims to flip red seats blue — and holding up redistricting is their biggest play.

But while the left bankrolls the bailouts, Texas Republicans are punching back. Hard.

Governor Greg Abbott isn’t messing around. He’s sued to remove the Democrats from office, calling their walkout a direct threat to representative government. His legal filing pulls no punches: “If a small fraction of recalcitrant lawmakers choose to run out the clock... they can do so for every session, potentially bankrupting the State.” That’s not hyperbole. That’s the alarm bell.

Senator John Cornyn has gone even further, asking the FBI to track down the runaway Dems. You read that right — the FBI. Because these lawmakers might now be violating bribery laws, depending on how those PAC dollars are flowing. Cornyn, facing a Trump-backed primary challenge from Ken Paxton, is clearly trying to get ahead of the curve by demanding arrests and throwing the law-and-order book at them.

And then there’s President Trump, back in full swing, saying what the rest of the GOP base is thinking: “We’re entitled to five more seats.” He’s not wrong. If the map passes, the GOP expands its lead in the House. No wonder he’s now toying with federal law enforcement getting involved, telling reporters, “They may have to.”

Let’s zoom out for a second.

You’ve got elected lawmakers abandoning their posts to stall a vote. You’ve got PACs with deep pockets paying their way to avoid consequences. You’ve got the state governor, a U.S. senator, the Texas AG, and the president all threatening legal and federal action to haul them back in — and we haven’t even gotten to the courts yet.

This isn’t civil disagreement. This is brinkmanship with national implications. If the Dems win, they stall the map and maybe hold the House. If the GOP wins, they cement a red-leaning Texas for a generation.

And the most surreal part? All of this is unfolding while taxpayer-funded legislators hang out in hotels like they’re on a paid vacation from democracy — while the rest of Texas waits for a functioning government.
