Pennsylvania Governor Responds To Biden Comment

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro expressed cautious disapproval of President Joe Biden's recent comments on supporters of former President Donald Trump during an appearance on CNN’s The Source.

When asked for his thoughts on Biden’s remarks, which were critical of Trump supporters, Shapiro distanced himself from the president’s choice of words, emphasizing a different approach to political discourse.

"Certainly not words that I would choose," Shapiro remarked, underscoring his belief in the importance of maintaining focus on the policy and character contrasts between Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, rather than targeting the supporters themselves.

Shapiro, who heard Biden's comments for the first time on air, provided a genuine, unfiltered reaction.

He stressed his commitment to respecting all Pennsylvanians, regardless of their political choices, explaining that he would "never insult the good people of Pennsylvania or any Americans, even if they chose to support a candidate that I didn’t support."

Shapiro pointed out that while Trump supporters may back a candidate he disagrees with, he believes in treating them with respect, a standard he hopes will set a tone for healthier political dialogue.

When CNN host Kaitlan Collins probed whether Biden should reconsider his phrasing, Shapiro reiterated his stance without directly advising Biden on his course of action.

Instead, he focused on the broader implications of Biden’s language, urging a shift away from personal attacks and underscoring the need to "remain focused on the contrast between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump."

Shapiro’s response suggests a perspective that values respectful political engagement, one where critiques are aimed at policies and candidates rather than their supporters.
