Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, allegedly stabbed her husband and three-year-old son to death inside a Poconos hotel room on Monday. According to police, she dialed 911 to seek guidance on locating the proper vein for puncture.
In room 2030 of the Great Wolf Lodge, officers discovered the remains of Charles Harrison and his young son. Officers recovered two knives with teal handles and over 80 pieces of evidence from the scene, per the New York Post.
During her arrest, Harrison declined to speak with cops, claiming she was "suicidal, not stupid". She later ranted to emergency medical staff about her struggle to be a perfect family member.
She told medics she worked "so hard to be the best person, the best mother, the best wife," according to the affidavit. Harrison added, "It wasn't supposed to end like this. I was supposed to have my happy family. That's what I envisioned since I was a child."
Paramedics stated that Harrison requested assistance locating the correct vein to cut because she could not end her own life. She allegedly declared, "My husband and son are already gone in the bed in the living room".
Before the tragedy, the family shared glowing pictures of their life on social media. The mother regularly posted snaps of herself, her husband, and their son smiling on vacations.
Neighbors in Bradford County expressed horror at the news of the double homicide. A local resident told WNEP, "I've heard sometimes a lot of yelling at times, but that's pretty much it".
Another neighbor, Lee Henry, said the family kept to themselves and did not run through the neighborhood. They had checked into the resort on Sept. 21 and extended their stay on Oct. 5.
Harrison has been arraigned, denied bail, and is being held pending a preliminary hearing where she is facing two counts of criminal homicide.
The Monroe County District Attorney described it as a "violent domestic tragedy in which two people, a boy and his father, lost their lives". He stated there is no current risk to the public.
Jason Lasecki, a spokesperson for Great Wolf Lodge, said the company was "deeply saddened and heartbroken" by the incident. He confirmed the knives were not from the resort and that they are cooperating fully with law enforcement.
