A Democratic Party official in Arizona has resigned from his post and lost his job after video surfaced showing him participating in a hostile confrontation with two young women accused of posing for photos with federal immigration enforcement agents. The incident, first reported by the Arizona Republic, quickly escalated into a national flashpoint over political rhetoric, protest behavior, and the boundaries of acceptable conduct in moments of heightened political tension.
The official, Mark Holodnak, served as treasurer for the Democratic Party Executive Committee for Arizona’s Legislative District 12. He was identified in video footage recorded by RedState.com reporter R.C. Maxwell, which showed a mob pursuing the two women through a parking lot while shouting insults.
Holodnak was captured on camera directing profane language at the women as they attempted to flee and secure themselves behind a gate. The footage spread rapidly online, prompting widespread condemnation and calls for accountability.

After the video gained traction, Holodnak faced swift professional consequences. HomeSmart, the real estate company with which he was affiliated as an independent contractor, announced that he had been terminated, stating that his behavior did not align with the company’s culture or values. Holodnak also resigned his position as treasurer for the LD12 Democratic Executive Committee, a move confirmed by the Arizona Republic. The Arizona Democratic Party did not immediately respond to media inquiries regarding the matter.
In a statement to the Arizona Republic, Holodnak expressed regret for his conduct and apologized to the two women involved, saying his words did not reflect his values or intentions. He added that he did not want his actions to detract from the work of the legislative district committee, prompting his resignation effective immediately.

The confrontation occurred amid protests surrounding federal law enforcement activity in Arizona. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, through Homeland Security Investigations, executed search warrants at multiple Zipps Sports Grill locations as part of a months-long criminal investigation. Federal authorities said the operation involved allegations of unlawful employment of illegal aliens, identity theft, and document fraud, resulting in nearly three dozen arrests across 14 locations.
The enforcement action drew protests at several sites, with demonstrators surrounding the areas during the searches. Prominent Democratic officials, including Rep. Yassamin Ansari and Gov. Katie Hobbs, criticized the Trump administration over the raids.
