Lewandowski Has Intense Debate With Acosta

In a heated exchange on CNN, former Trump campaign senior adviser Corey Lewandowski took aim at anchor Jim Acosta over the number of illegal immigrants convicted of homicide in the U.S.

The discussion, which aired during CNN Newsroom, centered around Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) data that recorded over 13,000 illegal immigrants with homicide convictions as of July 2021. Lewandowski repeatedly pressed Acosta on the gravity of this statistic, accusing the Biden administration of allowing violent criminals to enter the country.

Acosta, however, was quick to dismiss Lewandowski's claims, calling the statistic "inaccurate" and attempting to shift the focus with a bizarre question about Haitian migrants allegedly eating pets. Lewandowski responded by reiterating that tens of thousands of criminals, including rapists and murderers, had been allowed into the U.S. in recent years.

He argued that this is an urgent public safety crisis, particularly for American citizens victimized by these individuals. Yet, Acosta remained unmoved, pivoting to unrelated issues and challenging Lewandowski's views on the 2020 election and immigration policy.

The clash reached its peak when Lewandowski urged Acosta to admit that the U.S. had admitted over 13,000 individuals convicted of homicide. Acosta continued to push back, asserting that the number was not only inaccurate but also misleading, as it spanned several decades and multiple administrations.

Lewandowski, however, criticized the CNN host for deflecting from the core issue—the threat posed by dangerous criminals who had entered the country illegally.

The debate illustrates the growing divide over immigration and border security, with each side wielding its own data to bolster opposing narratives. While FBI statistics released earlier this year showed a decline in violent crime nationally, experts have pointed out discrepancies in reporting, suggesting that certain types of crimes, including those linked to illegal immigration, may be underreported.

Lewandowski's insistence on highlighting the issue of criminal migrants speaks to a broader concern shared by many Americans, particularly those alarmed by the perceived lack of accountability from the current administration.
