Johnson Issues Statement On DOGE During Interview

Elon Musk has once again found himself at the center of political and technological disruption—this time, by taking direct aim at what House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) calls the “deep state.”

In a recent interview with Mark Levin on Life, Liberty, and Levin, Johnson described how Musk, in collaboration with the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), is working to dismantle bureaucratic inefficiencies and expose long-hidden government operations.

Johnson, who met with Musk last week in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, noted the symbolic weight of Musk’s workspace—the historic Secretary of War Suite. “We laughed about how appropriate that is because he’s declared war on the deep state and the bureaucracy,” Johnson remarked. The statement reflects a broader theme: Musk is not merely critiquing government inefficiencies; he’s actively working from the inside to dismantle them.

The opposition to Musk’s involvement has been swift, particularly from Democrats, who Johnson pointed out are holding rallies against his efforts. But the Speaker questioned their motives. “What is he doing? He’s identifying and allowing us to cut out fraud, waste, and abuse. How could they be against that? It’s irrational. It’s going to work against them.”

Levin steered the conversation toward what he called the hypocrisy of Musk’s critics, particularly their opposition to his government reform efforts while embracing billionaire philanthropist George Soros, who has long been involved in shaping policy. Johnson agreed, emphasizing that Musk’s work is rooted in transparency and constitutional oversight—something Congress has struggled with due to entrenched bureaucratic resistance.

“The oversight job has been hindered because the deep state and the bureaucracy has not turned over the data. They wouldn’t give us the information we were seeking. We didn’t know all this because it was hidden,” Johnson explained. But according to him, Musk has finally “cracked the code,” offering Congress the ability to hold the Executive Branch accountable in ways that were previously impossible.

Musk’s involvement represents what Johnson calls a “game changer.” It’s a shift that could fundamentally alter the structure of federal governance, returning it to what he describes as the original intent of the Founding Fathers. This, he says, is precisely why the Democratic Party and big-government proponents are so alarmed. “They’re afraid of what the final result of this is going to be,” he stated. “And it’s very exciting for the people.”
