They say the plan places illegal immigrants ahead of American safety. Sen. Jim Banks called the bill un-American in a post on X. He argued that it defunds police to help those harboring criminal illegal aliens.

Omar frames the issue as a moral duty. She declared that ending this abuse of power is a moral duty, while asserting the bill mandates ICE cover damages. This includes psychological services and memorialization for victims.
