The hosts of The View sure had a busy Thursday, didn’t they? In full defense mode, they rallied around Vice President Kamala Harris, fresh off her interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier. Now, you’d think an interview with the Vice President might warrant some tough questions, right? Well, not if you ask the ladies of The View. According to them, Baier was not just tough; he was downright unfair and sexist. Yes, that’s right—sexist.
Kamala super fan Sunny Hostin whines about Bret Baier holding VP Harris to account instead of cuddling her like The View did: "He is known for doing the bidding of Fox News, but he ends his show every night as 'fair, balanced and unafraid.' Well, that was not fair and balanced." pic.twitter.com/5n8iS7dAG0

Let’s break it down. First up was Sunny Hostin, always ready with the sharp critiques, claiming that Baier wasn’t playing fair. She painted Baier as a Fox News puppet, but instead of focusing on the substance of Harris' responses (or lack thereof), Hostin zeroed in on Baier’s behavior, accusing him of breaking his supposed “fair and balanced” stance. Her frustration was clear, but was it really Baier’s fault for pushing back on Harris’ answers?
Pretend moderate Sara Haines suggests Baier is sexist because he wouldn't let Harris filibuster and lie during their interview like The View did: "The constant jumping in, I couldn't help but feel it's because she's a woman."
She laughably claims Harris "held her own." pic.twitter.com/PWoXWfYc4Q— Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) October 17, 2024
Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin tried to inject a little reason into the conversation. She admitted that Baier was asking questions the American public might want answered—fair point, right? But before she could even finish, the conversation quickly derailed back to bashing Baier. Sara Haines chimed in, claiming Harris “held her own,” and that Baier’s attempts to get her to stay on track weren’t just interruptions—they were sexist. Yes, according to Haines, Baier’s insistence on clarity amounted to nothing more than gender bias. Forget tough journalism; this was, in their view, an attack on Harris because she’s a woman.
The claims didn’t stop there. Sunny Hostin went even further, taking aim at Fox News’ Dana Perino. Perino had the audacity to suggest that Harris might have scored a few points against Trump in the interview, but according to Hostin, her analysis was steeped in racism. Hostin accused Perino of falling back on the “angry Black woman” trope—again, focusing on everything but Harris’ actual performance.
I figured @BretBaier would be tough. I didn’t think he would be downright rude and disrespectful. The VP did great. She is strong. He is scared.

If you thought these criticisms were limited to The View, think again. Former Senator Claire McCaskill hopped on the bandwagon, accusing Baier of being scared of Harris. McCaskill tweeted that Baier was “downright rude and disrespectful,” calling Harris strong and Baier weak in the process.
But here’s the kicker: it wasn’t long before clips resurfaced of Baier interviewing former President Donald Trump, and guess what? He was arguably tougher on Trump. The same Baier, the one accused of sexism and unfairness, had grilled Trump relentlessly. So, was this really about gender? Or could it be that Baier was simply doing his job—holding politicians accountable, regardless of party or gender?
It seems the hosts of The View missed that part. Instead, they doubled down on their defense of Harris, turning legitimate journalistic pushback into a narrative about sexism and racism. But with video evidence showing Baier being equally tough on Trump, the argument that he was especially hard on Harris because of her gender doesn’t quite hold up.
Remember last year when Bret Baier grilled Donald Trump and interrupted him 20+ times in a twenty minute interview?
Far harsher treatment than he gave Kamala, but only now is the media accusing him of a disgusting "ambush." pic.twitter.com/R5Kv0buuhB
