Federal Agents Seize Ilhan Omar's Phone And Passport In Home Raid

Federal agents raided Rep. Ilhan Omar's Washington home on Monday and took her cellphone, passport, and computers. The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that prosecutors aim to strip her citizenship and deport her. This move follows a long probe into whether she lied about her age to get into the country.

Homeland Security officers carried boxes out of the residence on October 12, 2026. The New York Post confirmed that two separate federal investigations are now active against the Minnesota Democrat. One probe looks at potential immigration fraud, while another examines her financial records.

Agents served grand jury subpoenas on at least 12 of Omar's family members by Wednesday. RedState reported that the number of subpoenas has grown significantly since the initial search. Investigators are checking if her family lied about her age when she arrived in 1995 as a child refugee.

Records show she was listed as 17 when her father naturalized in 2000, which would make her eligible for automatic citizenship. However, other documents list her birth year as 1981, meaning she would have been 19 at the time. If she was older than claimed, she could have been ineligible for the benefit she received.

Omar's husband, Tim Mynett, told a reporter that he had "no concerns" about the investigation. He stated that his wife arrived here at age 12 as a child war refugee. Yet sources say he may be getting more worried as the feds take her phone.

Omar's office released a statement accusing the Trump administration of weaponizing law enforcement against political opponents. A decade of inflammatory rhetoric targeting Congresswoman Ilhan Omar was allegedly pursued relentlessly by Donald Trump, per her team's claim. They argued there is "no basis" for the current case against her.

The Washington Examiner noted that federal immigration law allows authorities to revoke citizenship if it was obtained through willful misrepresentation. There is no time limit on civil cases to remove citizenship, even if criminal charges expire. The probe focuses on whether she concealed facts to get her status.

A separate inquiry is also underway regarding Omar's federal financial disclosures. Officials assert that the raid on her home has no connection to this financial review. The Fox News team confirmed that authorities are still examining paperwork submitted by her late father regarding his entry to the U.S.
