Celebs Spread ‘Deceptively Edited’ Video Of Trump

Today, we're diving into the latest Hollywood-fueled controversy that's causing quite a stir. Some celebrities are spreading a claim that former President Donald Trump intends to ban elections if he gets back into the White House. This buzz stems from a misinterpreted statement Trump made during a recent speech.

Let’s set the scene. Trump was addressing the crowd at the Turning Point Action’s Believers’ Summit in West Palm Beach, Florida. In his speech, he urged Christians to vote in large numbers this November. However, a 27-second video clip of his speech has been making the rounds, and it’s been taken out of context to suggest something much more sinister.

Trump’s controversial remark was, “Four years, it will be fixed, it will be fine. You won’t have to vote anymore. In four years, you won’t have to vote again.” At first glance, it sounds alarming, right? But let’s dig deeper into what he actually meant.

Trump was talking about making significant reforms to election laws, emphasizing the importance of voter ID and paper ballots. His point was that with these reforms, the integrity of elections would be so secure that the massive turnouts currently needed to counter alleged voter fraud wouldn’t be necessary in the future. Here’s a more detailed look at his speech:

“I will secure our elections. Our goal will be, as I said, one day voting with paper ballots, proof of citizenship, and a thing called voter ID… Until then, Republicans must win. We have to win this election. Most important election ever… If you want to save America, get your friends, get your family, get everyone you know, and vote… Christians — get out and vote! Just this time… Four more years, you know what? It’ll be fixed, it’ll be fine. You won’t have to vote anymore. My beautiful Christians. I love you, Christians. I’m a Christian. I love you. Get out. You’ve got to get out and vote. In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good. You’re not going to have to vote.”

Despite the clarification, several Hollywood celebrities jumped on the out-of-context clip to claim Trump wants to end elections altogether. Rob Reiner, Mia Farrow, and Barbra Streisand are among those who spread this narrative to their millions of followers. Even Disney’s Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson joined in. Their posts echo sentiments that Trump is openly planning authoritarian moves.

Breitbart News pointed out that The Atlantic also contributed to this storyline with writer Brian Klaas asserting that Trump is “telegraphing his authoritarian intentions in plain sight.”

Rob Reiner went as far as to say Trump “point blank said he will destroy our Democracy.”
