CBP Releases Border Data Since Trump Took Office

Alright, folks, let’s talk about something we haven’t seen in decades—border crossings plummeting thanks to President Trump’s aggressive crackdown.

If you’ve been paying attention, you know that illegal immigration was spiraling out of control, but new federal data shows a 90% drop in crossings compared to this time last year. That’s right—90%.

Now, let’s break it down. According to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data shared with the New York Post, just 359 illegal migrants are being processed per day at the southern border.

If that trend continues, February could see fewer than 10,000 total crossings—a number we haven’t seen since April 2017, and even then, it was around 11,000. Some experts are going even further, saying we’re looking at numbers that haven’t been this low since the 1960s.

That’s not just a win—that’s a landslide victory for border security.

Even local law enforcement is feeling the impact. Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland of Terrell County, Texas called it a “relief,” pointing out that border towns have been overrun for years, especially during cooler months when crossings tend to surge.

Well, not this year. Why? Because Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) isn’t playing games anymore—they’ve arrested 11,000 illegal migrants in just 18 days.

And here’s where things get even more interesting: Mexico is stepping up too. After Trump threatened tariffs, Mexico sent 10,000 troops to its northern border, stopping a flood of migrants before they even reached the U.S. That’s what you call real leverage.

Meanwhile, the administration has completely ended “catch and release”, restarted deportation flights to Venezuela, and—get this—transferred certain criminal offenders to Guantanamo Bay. You read that right. The days of soft policies and open borders are over.

And for those wondering whether this is just a fluke? Border Patrol Chief Mike Banks put it best: agents always knew how to secure the border—they just needed a leader who would let them do their job.
