Bondi Passes Next Step In Nomination For AG

The Republican-led Senate moved one step closer on Monday to confirming Pam Bondi as U.S. Attorney General, breaking a Democrat-led filibuster in a 52-46 vote.

With only a simple majority needed for final confirmation, Bondi is now poised to take control of a Justice Department that has spent the last several years mired in partisan weaponization and outright corruption.

Democrats, of course, are in full meltdown mode. They’ve fought tooth and nail to block Bondi’s nomination, throwing out the usual tired accusations—she’s too close to Trump, she’s aligned with “special interests,” and she’ll prioritize cleaning house at the DOJ rather than keeping the Biden-era holdovers in power. Well, that’s the whole point, isn’t it?

Bondi, a former Florida attorney general with a strong record of taking on corruption, has been clear about her mission: restoring integrity to the Justice Department.

“I will fight every day to restore confidence and integrity to the Department of Justice and each of its components,” she testified during her confirmation hearing. “The partisanship, the weaponization, will be gone.” That’s precisely why the left is panicking.

And it’s not just Bondi they’re trying to slow down. Democrats have been scrambling to obstruct Trump’s nominees across the board, demanding endless records from Bondi, acting DOJ officials, and FBI director nominee Kash Patel in a desperate attempt to stall the inevitable. They even placed a one-week hold on Bondi’s nomination—another political stunt that ultimately failed.

But here’s the reality: Trump’s nominees are getting confirmed. On Monday, the Senate approved Christopher Wright as energy secretary. They moved forward with Trump’s pick for budget director, Russell Vought, and Doug Collins is likely days away from taking over the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Meanwhile, Tulsi Gabbard (director of national intelligence), Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (Health and Human Services secretary), and Patel (FBI director) are expected to clear committee votes soon.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley put it best when he said there was “no doubt” about Bondi’s qualifications. If Democrats refuse to support her, they’re simply proving that their opposition is purely political. And after years of watching the DOJ turn into a partisan weapon under the previous administration, it’s no surprise they don’t want an attorney general committed to rooting out corruption.
