Abbott Responds To Lawmakers Request

Oh man… this is rich. You can’t make this stuff up, folks. After all the dramatic press conferences, the “fleeing Texas for democracy” narrative, and the selfies from chartered flights, it looks like the great Texas Democrat Exodus is quietly fizzling out—right back to square one.

Let’s rewind for a second. These state representatives high-tailed it out of Texas—literally fled the state—to block a vote they didn’t like. And now? They’re cracking. The whole thing is unraveling like a cheap suit in a rainstorm.

Take State Rep. Gene Wu, for example. The guy starts getting all misty-eyed about how hard it’s been being away from home. You’d think they were on some dangerous covert mission behind enemy lines. Nope. Just holed up in hotel rooms, probably burning through room service and tweeting about oppression while sipping lattes. Now they’re ready to come back? Not out of duty, mind you—but with demands.

Yeah, you heard that right. Demands. Like they’re negotiating the release of hostages instead of admitting they ran from the job they were elected to do. One of their official statements reads like it was ghostwritten by a melodramatic college activist:

“Abbott can choose to govern for Texas families, or he can keep serving Trump and face the consequences we’ve unleashed nationwide.”

Excuse me—what? Consequences? You ran to Chicago. The only thing you've “unleashed” is a solid round of national mockery.

And the cherry on top? They’re bragging that they “changed the rules of the fight” because they delayed a vote and got some headlines. That’s like a quarterback spiking the ball after losing 42–0. Sorry, but spinning a total loss into some kind of moral victory isn’t politics—it’s delusion. And worse? It's transparent.

Let’s not ignore the big picture here: redistricting. That’s what this is all about. And while Texas is moving forward, California’s over there with Governor Gavin Newsom throwing imaginary punches. As Governor Abbott rightly pointed out, Newsom “forgot to bring the bullets to the gunfight.” Texas can gain ground. California? Not so much.

And let’s talk about how Democrats dropped this “demand list”—by mailing it in from out of state. From Chicago. Are we serious? Who exactly are they representing from 1,000 miles away? The pizza?

Abbott’s response? A laugh. Literally. And that’s all it deserves. Because this isn’t about principle. It’s not about the people. It’s about optics—and even those are failing now.
