On January 6, 2021, the United States Capitol was stormed by pro-Trump supporters, and potentially others as well. You know who I'm talking about. This eventually led to the deaths of five people and left many more injured. This event has been undergoing investigation by the House Select Committee ever since Democrats decided that even after an FBI investigation, that they weren't happy with the conclusion and being members of Congress (not detectives or lawyers) they could do a better job at this than any of the federal agencies who have endless amounts of money at their disposal to look into such matters.
However, the House is set to dissolve the committee this week, and many are concerned that much of the evidence the committee collected will be lost. The committee has released transcripts of just 126 out of the more than 1,000 interviews it conducted, leaving the bulk of the non-sensitive material still under wraps. The records that the committee has amassed are among the largest and most complex ever compiled by Congress, and include internal White House emails, notes on over 100 informal witness interviews, and video footage of key players obtained from documentary crews.
Government watchdog groups and other organizations have already pulled information from the committee into online repositories, but they can only preserve what the committee releases. Records not made public in the next few days could be squirreled away for as long as 50 years, leaving the public in the dark about the truth of the events of January 6th. When I really think about this, I think of one other instance in which records have been sealed up for a long time where we still don't have all of the evidence or truth about what happened and that would be the assassination of JFK back in 1963.
There is something that they don't want us to know, and I'm pretty sure that I've got a good idea what it is that they are trying to hide. It's absolutely appalling that our government is even allowed to do something like this. I mean think about it, you will more than likely be dead by the time that the evidence is potentially released, and that's exactly what they want.
