Today, we're diving into some exciting news from the political arena. Tucker Carlson, a well-known conservative commentator, has praised former President Donald Trump’s decision to select Senator JD Vance (R-OH) as his running mate.
Carlson, who spoke at the Heritage Foundation’s Policy Fest during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, expressed his enthusiasm and support for Vance.
“I think every person who pays close attention has gotta be thrilled by that,” Carlson stated. He emphasized that for those unfamiliar with Vance, his merits are self-evident due to the opposition he faces. Carlson highlighted, “Every bad person I’ve ever met in a lifetime in Washington was aligned against J.D. Vance.”
Carlson argued that Vance was the best choice among Trump’s rumored shortlist, which included notable figures such as Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY). Interestingly, Carlson himself was once rumored to be a potential running mate, although it’s unclear if that was ever a serious consideration.
In his speech, Carlson admitted to having been wrong many times in the past and emphasized the importance of honesty and correcting errors. He said, “It’s not like I think that…God’s always on my side. Sometimes I’m not on God’s side, but I definitely know who’s representing the other side.”
Carlson, who recently launched the Tucker Carlson Network, mentioned that Vance’s critics are often those with financial interests in “killing other people in pointless wars.”
He remarked on the intense opposition Vance faced, noting, “Every single one of those people in a line that would extend from Milwaukee to Chicago was lined up over the last week to knife J.D. Vance.”
He added that the hostility towards Vance was unprecedented, suggesting that such political dynamics are common in Washington, although Carlson now observes from a distance.
In a surprising turn of events, Vance reportedly received only 20 minutes notice before Trump formally announced his selection as his running mate on Truth Social. Vance, a freshman senator, has transitioned from a former critic to one of Trump’s strongest supporters in the Senate.
The Trump campaign is hopeful that Vance’s addition to the ticket will energize voters in crucial Rust Belt states. With this new partnership, the political landscape is sure to heat up as we approach the next election.
