Trump Jr. Comments On Buzz About Father

Donald Trump Jr., the son of former President Donald Trump, has been vocal about his opposition to the possibility of his father choosing Nikki Haley as his running mate for the 2024 election.

In a recent interview with Newsmax, Trump Jr. stated that he would go to great lengths to ensure that Haley does not get the position.

The former president's son, who wields significant influence within the Republican party, cited Haley's support for endless wars and her close ties to the billionaire class in Washington, D.C. as reasons for his disapproval. He also criticized her recent rise in the polls, calling her the "new favorite candidate of the establishment."

Haley, a former UN ambassador under the Trump administration, has been gaining momentum in the 2024 GOP primary polls over recent weeks. Some, including former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, have suggested her as a potential vice presidential pick for Trump. Additionally, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ campaign recently launched a website promoting a Trump-Haley ticket.

However, Trump Jr. is not the only MAGA figure to voice opposition to such a pairing. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) was quoted saying that “MAGA would revolt” if Haley were to even be given an internship in Trump's next administration.

Additionally, Trump Jr.'s sister-in-law, Lara Trump, has expressed openness to the prospect of a Trump-Haley ticket, but noted that “crazier things have happened.”

Trump himself has reportedly asked his confidants for their thoughts on Haley as a running mate, sparking speculation about a potential Trump-Haley ticket in 2024. However, Haley has downplayed any aspirations for the vice presidency, saying “I don't run for second.” She has also been critical of Trump, stating that “chaos and drama” follow him.

In the latest RealClearPolitics aggregate, Trump currently leads the 2024 GOP pack, followed by DeSantis and Haley. Trump has been known to rely on the influence and opinions of his family in political decisions, and they have played a significant role in his administration.

For example, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has claimed that Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, scuttled his chances at landing a top gig in the administration.

Haley and DeSantis are set to square off in a CNN debate next month ahead of the Iowa caucuses on January 15, 2024. It remains to be seen who Trump will ultimately choose as his running mate, but his son has made it clear that he does not want it to be Nikki Haley. The Post reached out to Haley's campaign for comment on Trump Jr.'s statements but has not received a response at this time.
