Tony Lewis the lead singer for the band The Outfield died at age 62 the British rock band was best known for their song "Your Love"
Tony Lewis reportedly died Tuesday at his home in London. The cause of death was not revealed. The musician, songwriter, and record producer co-founded The Outfield with Alan Jackman and John Spink. Their music stormed the 80's with hit tracks like "Your Love," "All The Love" and "Say It Isn't So."
Since its release 30 years ago the song "Your Love" is played on over 1,000 radio stations and averages 2 million streams on Pandora, 1 million views on YouTube, and 1 million streams on Spotify, the song was also played on tons of TV shows, films, and even commercials. It peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1986. It's easily one of the most recognizable songs in rock history.
"Your Love" was on the "Play Deep" album which went on to reach triple platinum sales and break the top 10 in the U.S. album charts.

Lewis and the late John Spinks took the ‘80s by storm with The Outfield’s infectious pop songs, including ‘Your Love,’ ‘All The Love’ and ‘Say It Isn’t So.’ ‘Your Love’ reached No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Chart in 1986 and is still widely known today, with features in various TV spots and commercials, gaining millions of streams each month.” The “Your Love” video currently boasts more than 300 million views on YouTube.
The band had achieved huge success in the U.S. but weren’t as known in the U.K. Still, the band continued to record and tour through the 1980s and into the early 1990s.
In 2017, Lewis signed to Madison Records and released “Out of the Darkness” in 2018. Featuring a sound that harkened back to The Outfield, standout track includes “Into the Light” and “Only You.”
