The phrase "on the hot seat" refers to being in a difficult or uncomfortable position. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Anthony Fauci found himself in this position, but he was able to avoid criticism. However, some people believe that Fauci misled or lied to the public, and that his actions were criminal.
Some people wonder if he will ever be held accountable for his actions. Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has previously challenged Fauci on his alleged lies, but it is possible that there may be consequences this time.
Paul recently announced that there will be extensive investigations into Dr. Anthony Fauci. The senator indicated that he would be launching probes into the “COVID doctor” once he retires as the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
Paul fired back at recent comments Fauci made to The Washington Post. Fauci said he really didn’t believe he would change anything from his pandemic decision, despite the abysmal failure of many of these choices.
Paul replied to Fauci’s insolence, “Likely there is no public figure or public health figure that has made a greater error in judgment than Dr. Fauci.” He pointed out that it was Fauci’s decision to fund the dangerous gain-of-function research, which triggered the pandemic.
At worst, Fauci’s choice to conceal these facts makes him culpable in the tragic deaths of millions of people worldwide. Paul believes that, “for the last two years, he’s been covering his tracks, but we’ve caught him red-handed, and he won’t get away.”
Talk show personality Megyn Kelly unleashed on Fauci. Kelly was furious that, “And now he’s going to go be honored as the Yale commencement speaker for the future doctors of America; it’s infuriating!”
But millions of angry Americans may soon gain satisfaction from watching Fauci squirm “on the hot seat.” Hopefully, duty-bound lawmakers will grill the man who made unconscionable mistakes during a deadly pandemic. Fauci must be held accountable. He belongs in prison.
