Senate Confirms Trump Nominee For Judge

If you’re keeping score — and at this point, who isn’t — Donald Trump just added another win to the board. Emil Bove, a name that’s been driving Democrats up the wall for months, is now officially Judge Emil Bove of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit, confirmed in the Senate Thursday night by the skinniest of margins: 50-49. And if you’re wondering how tight things were, yes — the usual Republican defectors, Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins, voted no. Shocking, I know.

This one stung for the Left. Bove’s nomination had Democrats foaming at the mouth. Earlier this month, they even staged a walkout from a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting — a performance piece led by Senator Cory Booker, who once again channeled his best “angry but reasonable” routine. He ranted, he gestured, and he did his best to make the whole thing feel like a moral crusade. It didn’t work. Chuck Schumer didn’t help much either, branding Bove a “Trumpian henchman.”

But Bove wasn’t having it. “I am not anybody’s henchman. I’m not an enforcer,” he said during his confirmation hearings. “I’m a lawyer from a small town who never expected to be in an arena like this.” Which, let’s be honest, is the kind of line that makes Democrats grind their teeth — because it’s disarming and hard to demonize.

So why all the fuss? Simple. Emil Bove was part of Trump’s personal legal defense team during the non-stop legal barrage against the president. That’s really all they needed to label him “controversial.” Never mind that his résumé is airtight: former college athlete, Georgetown Law grad, clerk for two federal judges, and a decade-long stint as a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York, where he handled big-time terrorism and drug trafficking cases. This isn’t some political hack; this is a lawyer who has lived in the deep end of the legal pool.

There was also that unproven whistleblower allegation that Bove once floated ignoring court orders related to Trump’s deportation policies — a claim he flatly denies. But that didn’t stop Democrats from trying to “Bork” him. Spoiler: it didn’t work.

So now, after all the theatrics, all the talking points, and all the walkouts, the Left gets to swallow a hard truth: they can’t call him “Trump’s lawyer” anymore. He’s now Judge Emil Bove. And if you listen closely, you can probably hear the sound of Chuck Schumer’s teeth grinding all the way from D.C.
