Now here’s something you don’t see every day in Washington: Republicans and Democrats on the House Oversight Committee actually agreeing on something — and not just anything, but on dragging some of the most high-profile names in modern politics into the hot seat.
On Wednesday, Oversight Chairman James Comer announced that the committee voted — with bipartisan support — to authorize subpoenas for none other than Bill and Hillary Clinton, former FBI Director James Comey, former Attorneys General Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, William Barr, Jeff Sessions, and Alberto Gonzales, as well as current AG Merrick Garland and even Robert Mueller.
That’s a who’s who list of Washington power players who, if called to testify, could turn a standard committee hearing into must-watch TV.
🚨 I commend Representative Robert Garcia for being bipartisan in one of his first official acts as Ranking Member of the Oversight Committee by voting to subpoena Bill and Hillary Clinton, James Comey, Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Merrick Garland, Robert Mueller, William Barr,…

And here’s the twist: Democrats are framing this as their win. The committee’s new ranking Democrat, Rep. Robert Garcia of California, was quick to take a victory lap, calling it “a major victory for Oversight Democrats.” Garcia not only backed the subpoenas but also sent Comer a letter urging Republicans to go after the Department of Justice for documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. Yes — those files.
In a statement, Garcia put it bluntly: “The Oversight Committee is preparing subpoenas for these individuals and the Epstein files and will issue them in the near future… Today, I’m writing to Chairman Comer requesting he immediately make good on his promise to issue the official subpoena.” He didn’t stop there, adding, “This is not the time for Republicans to drag their feet.”
The American people have waited long enough for the Epstein files.

For his part, Comer praised Garcia for his bipartisan move, writing on X that he “commended” the Democrat for joining Republicans in authorizing the subpoenas.
So let’s call it what it is: this is a rare moment where both sides want the same thing — at least on paper — transparency. And while it’s easy to be skeptical about how far either side really wants to go, the fact that names like Clinton, Comey, Lynch, and Garland are being formally subpoenaed should make even the most jaded D.C. observer raise an eyebrow.
