Just days after revelations surfaced that the FBI monitored now–FBI Director Kash Patel and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles while they were private citizens in 2022–23, another explosive allegation has emerged — this time from inside the Department of Homeland Security.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem now claims she has uncovered what she describes as an internal “Deep State” operation embedded within her own department. According to Noem, unauthorized spyware was secretly installed on government-issued devices used by Trump administration officials — including her personal DHS phone and laptop — enabling the recording of meetings and monitoring of internal communications.

Speaking on the “PBD Podcast,” Noem said outside technology experts were brought in to examine DHS hardware after suspicious activity was detected. Among those assisting in the review, she stated, were Elon Musk and members of his team. The tech specialists allegedly identified embedded surveillance software on devices assigned to political appointees.
Noem described the discovery as deeply alarming. She said the forensic review revealed surveillance tools that had not been authorized by current leadership. The implication: individuals within DHS may have been monitoring senior officials without approval.
Her public statements did not stop there.
In a social media post, Noem wrote that her team uncovered “secret, secure rooms with hidden files” that have since been turned over to attorneys. She tied the findings to a broader effort, stating that under President Donald Trump’s leadership, DHS is returning to standards of accountability and rooting out actors who “do not have the interests of America in mind.”
During her podcast appearance, Noem elaborated further. She said that a previously unknown Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) — a highly secure room typically used for classified intelligence work — was discovered on the DHS campus. According to her account, the room came to light only after an employee questioned a nondescript door and began asking about its purpose.

Inside, Noem said, were individuals working with files on controversial topics that, she claims, current leadership was unaware existed. Those materials have now been handed to legal authorities for review. She emphasized that the department is working to determine who authorized the facility and the surveillance tools, and for what purpose.
This is not the first time Noem has alleged internal resistance within DHS. Earlier this month, she announced plans to implement polygraph testing in an effort to identify employees suspected of leaking information about Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid operations.
