You may have heard about the heartbreaking tragedy of the Florida youngster who died after falling off an amusement park ride last month, which was widely reported. It's a dreadful and tragic occurrence that should have never happened in the first place. The safety measures for this ride that are designed to prevent incidents like this from happening are nowhere to be found.
How is it possible that the child was not properly restrained in his seat?
Investigators revealed on Monday that the seat strap on the horrific Florida amusement park ride where the adolescent died had been manually altered to double its typical range before the teen was killed.
According to a recent investigation from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Tyre Samson, 14, was not properly fastened in his seat before he dropped from the Free Fall attraction at Orlando's ICON Park last month (FDACS).
“This report confirmed our department’s finding that the operator of the Orlando drop tower made manual adjustments to the ride resulting in it being unsafe,” FDACS Commissioner Nikki Fried said at a press conference Monday.
“These misadjustments allowed the safety lights to illuminate and properly satisfy the ride’s electronic safety mechanism that allowed the ride to operate even though Mr. Samson was not properly secured in his seat,” Fried said.
You know, I seem to remember back in the days when I used to go to amusement parks that many of the rides had additionally straps around the crotch area that would connect them to the seat itself to further ensure the safety of the rider.
So apparently, someone adjusted the seat manually to try and allow for the heavy teen to fit more comfortably in the seat which ultimately led to his untimely death.
Take a look at some of these photos from the ride and you'll see that these adjustements never should have been made and this boy never should have been allowed to ride like this. There is going to be a massive lawsuit from the family and they're going to win.
