If you are familiar with your bible, and especially end times passages, then you're probably familiar with this verse from the Book of Revelation:
"Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name."
Over the years people have made a lot of claims as to what the mark of the beast is. Some people think it's something we have now, some people think it's something that has already taken place, and some believe that it is yet to come.
What I'm about to tell you about does sound eerily similar, but let me say this as well, I do not believe that this is the mark of the beast. I believe that what this may lead towards in the future could be very similar though.
Future concertgoers and sports spectators may have to verify proof of a negative COVID-19 test or evidence of having been vaccinated before attending an event.
Billboard reports Ticketmaster is laying the groundwork for such a plan - still in its developmental phase - to go into effect in 2021 after Pfizer's recent announcement that their COVID-19 vaccine could be 90 percent effective in stopping transmission of the virus.
Ticketmaster would use tie-ins between its own app and third party health information companies for the plan to be implemented. The proposal would have three separate components: (1) the Ticketmaster mobile ticketing app; (2) access to verification information by companies (eg CLEAR Health Pass, IMB's Digital Health Pass); and (3) cheaper testing and vaccination distribution by providers like Labcorp and CVS Minute Clinic.
Regional health authorities would decide on the exact timing of the test prior to the event from 24-72 hours before doors opening, and ticketholders would then be required to show proof of having been vaccinated or tested negative for COVID-19 rather than be tested at the door.
The scheme would also need to take into account technology that could prevent a mobile pass from being transferred or resold.
As the main ticket provider of sports leagues and concert venues, Ticketmaster would be setting an important precedent once the plan is fully formulated.
Mark Yovich, President of Ticketmaster, told Billboard that third-party verification companies will soon be working to track COVID-19.
“We’re already seeing many third-party health care providers prepare to handle the vetting – whether that is getting a vaccine, taking a test, or other methods of review and approval – which could then be linked via a digital ticket so everyone entering the event is verified,” Yovich said. “Ticketmaster’s goal is to provide enough flexibility and options that venues and fans have multiple paths to return to events, and is working to create integrations to our API and leading digital ticketing technology as we will look to tap into the top solutions based on what’s green-lit by officials and desired by clients.”
