Musk Comments On Netflix

Elon Musk has once again waded into the culture wars—this time, by publicly severing ties with streaming giant Netflix over its inclusion of pro-trans content in animated programming aimed at children. The billionaire Tesla and SpaceX founder took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday with a blunt message: “Cancel Netflix for the health of your kids,” alongside a viral meme depicting a Trojan horse labeled “transgender woke agenda.”

The post quickly gained traction as Musk responded “Same” to a user who announced their cancellation of Netflix over its employment of creators tied to controversial political statements and what they described as “pro-trans content” being aimed at young audiences. The conversation emerged in tandem with resurfaced clips from two Netflix children’s series—Dead End: Paranormal Park and Ridley Jones—that feature transgender and non-binary characters.

In Dead End: Paranormal Park, a Netflix original that aired for two seasons in 2022, the lead character identifies as transgender—something that had already sparked debate during the show’s original run but has since reemerged amid broader concerns about content for children. In Ridley Jones, the controversy centers on Fred, a non-binary bison character who nervously discusses using a new name and pronouns with his grandmother, a scene many critics say goes too far for content marketed to children as young as seven.

The renewed scrutiny has been driven largely by Libs of TikTok, the viral culture account run by Chaya Raichik, which has curated screenshots and clips from both shows, while amplifying a wave of users announcing their subscription cancellations. Raichik has also highlighted the behavior of Dead End creator Hamish Steele, a trans-identified animator whose recent comments on the social platform Bluesky have sparked outrage.

Steele is alleged to have posted a profane message in response to condolences offered by U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The message, riddled with expletives, accused the Prime Minister of hypocrisy and made light of Kirk’s death. While Steele later deleted the post, screenshots quickly spread, prompting backlash across social media.

Steele responded by calling the claims “lies and slander” and emphasized that Dead End is not currently being promoted by Netflix. However, in subsequent posts, the creator acknowledged receiving “nasty, weird, [homophobic], and antisemitic emails,” and denied celebrating Kirk’s death, saying, “My Instagram comments are now flooded with replies saying I AM CHARLIE KIRK… which I never did.”
