The majority of American young men in their 20s have probably gone through a period where their "romantic advances" were rejected. In young men, the impulses brought on by their hormones can be rather strong. Women are not required to give in to such male inclinations, with all due respect.
Men with healthy mental balance simply move on. Sure, their "male pride" may suffer for a while, but they have no ill will against the feminine persuasion. However, some males are not socially adjusted. They actually have a strong animosity toward women.
Psychologists use the term "involuntary celibate" to describe this situation.
These males don't necessarily wish to abstain from sex. They merely believe that when women reject them, it's because they're targets of the female species. Like I said, these young men, and sometimes older men, are not mentally and/or emotionally sound.
They need counseling. Many people go to therapy. There is, however, a small subset of "incels" who think that violence towards women is the solution. Incels are different from those who have relationship issues. But there is a small but dangerous minority of people who support violence against women.
A 25-year-old Canadian man purposefully crashed a rental van into people on a busy Toronto street. Alek Minassian was charged with 10 counts of murder and 13 counts of attempted murder. Investigators found Minassian’s social media account full of hatred against women.
He posted, “The Incel Rebellion has already begun! We will overthrow all the Chads and Stacys! All hail the Supreme Gentleman, Elliot Rodger!” Elliot Rodger was an incel who went on a killing rampage near his campus at UC Santa Barbara.
In 2014, after penning a manifesto seeking “vengeance against attractive women for denying him sex and affection,” Rodgers killed six people before committing suicide. These are not men who are sexually frustrated. These are insane people who need to be institutionalized.
Incels can be dangerous. They’re not a “bad dating issue”. Another Ohio man recently pleaded guilty in federal court. Tres Genco is a self-described incel. Genco admitted to surveilling and stalking over 3,000 women at an Ohio university.
Federal law enforcement arrested Genco after he admitted to planning to kill as many women as he could. Genco is facing life in prison. Genco said that he wanted to “slaughter” women “out of hatred, jealousy, and revenge.” He talked about death as the “great equalizer.”
According to Special Agent J. William Rivers for the FBI Cincinnati Field Division, “Thankfully, law enforcement partners working closely together prevented a deadly killing spree targeting women.” The Department of Justice found handwritten notes by Genco.
The notes said that he wanted to “aim big.” He mentioned aspirations of killing up to 3,000 women. Genco had searched online for information on how to carry out a shooting crime. Authorities raided Genco’s residence and found everything he needed to carry out a tragic shooting spree.
Agents retrieved a firearm with bump stock attached and loaded magazines. Genco also had body armor, boxes of ammunition, and a modified handgun with the serial number filed off. Genco pleaded guilty to a single count of attempting to commit a hate crime.
Since his intentions involved a desire to kill other people, it was punishable by up to life in prison. Incels are sick individuals. America has been so overly sexualized that men feel something is wrong with them if their advances are turned down.
Certainly, these situations create some emotional baggage. But when someone aspires to killing women because they won’t have sex with them, that person needs to be locked away. Thankfully, one Ohio lunatic will be behind bars for a long time.
