Harris Discusses US Steel During Pittsburgh Stop

Kamala Harris is at it again, pushing another economic policy that feels a lot like something straight out of Donald Trump’s playbook. During a campaign stop in Pittsburgh, Harris made a point of declaring that she would keep U.S. Steel under domestic ownership, echoing Trump’s earlier stance on the matter.

“U.S. Steel should remain American-owned and American-operated,” Harris emphasized, calling it vital for the nation. Sounds familiar, right?

Well, it should. Back in January, Trump made headlines when he vowed to block Japan’s Nippon Steel from buying U.S. Steel if he returned to the White House. Nippon had already put a $15 billion offer on the table, but Trump wasn’t having it.

"We saved the steel industry,” Trump said. “Now, U.S. Steel is being bought by Japan. So terrible.” Strong words, and it seems Harris has taken a page from his book—again.

To be fair, President Joe Biden also opposed the sale back in March, but this latest move from Harris marks the third time she’s adopted policies originally touted by Trump. And that’s where it starts to get really interesting.

Take, for instance, the “no tax on tips” proposal that Harris suddenly backed. Trump had already made waves with it in June, promising to remove taxes on service workers’ tips during a rally in Las Vegas. Not long after, Harris blindsided her fellow Democrats by announcing her support for the same policy at—you guessed it—a rally in Las Vegas.

Trump even made it personal, writing “no tax on tips” on a restaurant receipt after tipping $500 in Philadelphia. When Harris echoed the plan, Trump was quick to fire back, claiming she was copying his idea for political gain.

“Kamala has no ideas,” he posted on Truth Social, calling it a blatant attempt to catch up as her poll numbers slip.

But wait, there’s more! Just days after Trump’s running mate JD Vance suggested doubling the child tax credit to $5,000, Harris one-upped him by announcing her support for a $6,000 child tax credit. Another “coincidence”?
