I'm still waiting for this woke culture mess to finally die out. It's definitely losing its steam, but it keep popping up here and there though nowhere near as often as it once did.
We know that several professional sports leagues and teams have gone woke. Well, you can add one more to the list. The NHL has apologized for having too many white people in the league and created an initiative to "fix" it.
The NHL's first internal demographic study found its workforce to be overwhelmingly white.
Kim Davis, NHL EVP of social impact, growth and legislative affairs, says seeing the numbers is a first step toward fixing the problem.

According to a report, approximately 84% of the NHL workforce is white. They want to blame this on everything except the obvious...maybe it's just because people of color don't apply for these jobs and not many of them play hockey. Hockey isn't exactly like football, baseball, or basketball in the United States. These sports are usually practiced or played year round, but hockey takes special circumstances. It requires ice.
As it turns out, most of the ice and hockey being played happens up north where it's colder, but most people of color in America live in the South.
And another thing...why don't we see the NBA doing this as well? The NBA is the most woke of the professional sports leagues in America. So, if they really care about equality and equity, then why don't they do the same thing?
According to statistics from 2021, 73.2% of the NBA is made up of African-Americans. Only 16.8% of the NBA is made up of white people. Why is that? Is this systemic racism? If all of these other organizations are going to make decisions on hiring based on race, then shouldn't they do the same since white people make up a minority?
The NHL must improve how minority communities feel about hockey and lay out a course of action to diversify its fan base, argued Kim Davis, NHL EVP of Social Impact, Growth, and Legislative Affairs.
““A number of those steps are already in progress,” she said. “You can’t expect to recruit (Black, Indigenous and people of color) folks to work in the league if you don’t at the same time have your stadium fan code of conduct underway so people feel like the sport is really serious about growing the fan base. You also have to make sure that you are reaching out to the communities from a youth participation perspective, so all of those efforts are underway.”
Hockey is already struggling, but if they're going to start hiring people based on race rather than qualifications, then they're going to lose support just like the NBA and NFL have.
