Overturning of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court touched off a firestorm of controversy in the United States. Hardened pro-choice advocates say that the mother's sole decision to abort even right up until the moment of delivery, is hers alone.
However, despite having such radically diverse perspectives on abortion, there are certain points of agreement. However, a recent event in Georgia brings levity to what had previously been a fairly somber discussion.
From a staunchly pro-abortion perspective, the unborn are completely meaningless. Unborn children's lives are not important. Radical abortion zealots will attempt to convince you that this is true even when it is false.
The Georgia law addresses using an unborn child as a tax write-off. The radical left would have us believe a heartbeat doesn’t warrant the unborn protection under the law. However, for tax purposes, they’re as good as an elementary-age dependent minor.
Georgia’s tax law reads: “Any unborn child with a detectable human heartbeat shall qualify as a dependent minor.” This definition is broad. Some wonder if the wording in the Georgia unborn dependent law might open the door to eligibility for other state-funded programs.
The agency went on to explain how to exercise the exemption. “Similar to any other deduction claimed on an income tax return, relevant medical records or other supporting documentation shall be provided to support the dependent deduction claimed if requested by the Department.”
The Georgia abortion laws are laying the groundwork for the unborn to be, in reality, considered “living dependents.” Everything in Georgia’s abortion legislation hinges on a “detectable heartbeat”. Pro-life advocates welcome how Georgia’s law defines its legal abortion guidelines.
The definition describes life as “embryonic or fetal cardiac activity or the steady and repetitive rhythmic contraction of the heart within the gestational sac.” According to the Georgia Department of Public Health’s official guidance, life begins “as early as six weeks' gestation, an unborn child may have a detectable human heartbeat.”
It will be interesting to watch radical pro-abortion fanatics rail against the Georgia law. In the same breath, progressives promote welfare-state socialism. Progressives will want “government handouts” for the unborn but still insist that they can be murdered. Talk about an oxymoron.
