There has been a trend among many moderate American voters, particularly Democrats, to shift their political allegiance towards a more conservative ideology and change their party affiliation. While some conservatives have left the Republican Party, the number of Democrats leaving their party is much larger.
Many of these former liberal voters are now registering as independents. One example of this is Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema, who recently announced her departure from the Democratic Party and will now identify as an Independent. The reasons for this shift among once-progressive liberals are thought to be due to the radical policies being promoted by the progressive left, as well as the Democrats' actions in response to the pandemic.
One liberal, Oscar-winning actor insists that what triggered him to denounce his membership in the Democrat Party. Previously a self-proclaimed left-wing advocate, Tim Robbins, said that what he witnessed during the height of the pandemic caused him to revisit his beliefs.
Initially, the Academy Award-winning actor held disdain for all Americans who resisted vaccine mandates and Draconian lockdowns. However, now he admits his views have changed. He said he felt anger toward anyone who disagreed with the radical left’s pandemic orders.
Robbins told podcast host Russell Brand, “I bought into it. I was masking everywhere. I was keeping my social distance. I was adhering to the requests made of me, and I felt angry at people that didn’t do that.”
The “Shawshank Redemption” star went into self-isolation for seven months at the beginning of the pandemic. Robbins would eventually travel to Britain to work. It was during this time in the U.K. when Robbins began to rethink his beliefs.
Robbins saw people who simply weren’t kowtowing to the bureaucratic mandates. These people were living life on life’s terms, pandemic be damned. Initially, the actor assumed there would be widespread death and hardship. But when it didn’t work out that way, he started to think.
Robbins told Brand, “When I saw that there wasn’t a huge death rate, after I witnessed personally what was happening, I started to wonder more and more about what we were being told and whether it was true or not.”
He also started to question the “science” that was driving these decisions. Then came the ultimate realization for Robbins. He saw proof that the vaccinated were spreading the virus. It couldn’t understand why natural immunity was suddenly ignored.
He also pondered why the ways the virus was affecting the elderly and immune-compromised versus the rest of the population were also being ignored. But when he saw that officials were recommending the unvaccinated be refused medical care, he flipped.
This is such a powerful commentary by actor Tim Robbins (in discussion with Russell Brand) on the horrendous demonisation of those who questioned the response to Covid. @TimRobbins1@rustyrockets pic.twitter.com/0eRUOADOOM

Once a hardcore leftist, Tim Robbins could no longer buy the can of B.S. his fellow progressives were feeding the public. Robbins is a smart man. He’s not unlike his remarkably intelligent character portrayal of Andy Dufresne.
In the movie, Andy outsmarted his captors. Likewise, he thinks people should push back against tyrannical mandates. Just like Andy Dufresne, liberal bureaucrats used a pandemic to imprison citizens. One Oscar-winning actor believes an escape is long overdue.
