As a nation and a society, it appears that we are rapidly regressing.
There are numerous issues that I will not go into depth about here, but you are aware of them (crime, inflation, leftist ideology, etc.).
However, there are presently concerns with items that should have been corrected 70 years ago! I'm referring to the toys that our children play with.
According to a recent investigation, numerous toys now on the market in the United States contain significant levels of harmful substances. Why are businesses putting poison in toys?
It may come as no surprise to learn that the toys are mostly the cheap ones that you find at places like Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, Dollar General, and Five Below. And honestly, it wouldn't surprise if many of the toys that you find on Amazon are going to be of the same caliber.
If you don't know it already, I would venture to say that most toy sellers online are actually people who purchase them for a cheaper price from China, and then sell them at a marked up value on Amazon for a profit. It's a legitimate business model that many people utilize. I've known several people personally who have done this.
In fact, the next time that you find something a little different or that is not a name brand that you're familiar with, go to the website AliExpress.com and see if you can't find that very same item, probably with the same photos, on their website for a cheaper price. You'll see that I'm telling you the truth.
It was discovered that over half of the items bought by researchers at locations contained hazardous substances.
For the first quarter of 2021, the researchers bought 226 items from retailers in the US and Canada. The goods had 635 unique parts or materials.
The items were then examined using a variety of methods based on the compounds they contained.
Overall, 53% of the goods evaluated had one or more harmful “chemicals of concern”.
This includes canned foods with harmful inner can coatings, such as BPA-based epoxy and PVC can body coatings, and microwave popcorn with PFAS coatings, which are generally applied to metal to prevent corrosion, among other things.
Consumer electronics with lead solder, flame retardants, and phthalate plasticizers, as well as a number of products containing other “chemicals of concern” such as antimony compounds, organotins, and bromine, which is corrosive to human tissue, were also found in dollar stores (CDC).
Most disturbing was that researchers even found hazardous metals, endocrine disruptors, and other dangerous compounds in store bought children's toys.
As silly as it may sound, it looks like it's time for everyone to go back to organic items, including toys. Start buying wooden toys like people used to have back in the old days.
