Steven Mnuchin, Treasury Secretary, said it was his idea to put President Trump's name on the Stimulus checks coming out to millions of Americans.
It was stipulated that Trump wanted his name on there to make himself seem bigger then he is etc. He actually didn't want his name on it. He didn't see it necessary.
The IRS is sending these checks out to all Americans who filed in 2018 o 2019. Obviously they have been sent to help ease the financial burden of many Americans during the Coronavirus pandemic.
You do need to know that not all Americans will get this money. You have to qualify under different guidelines.
According to The New York Post:
Mnuchin was asked during an interview on CNN whether putting the president’s name on the checks was Trump’s suggestion.
“That was my idea. He is the president and I think it’s a terrific symbol to the American public,” he said on “State of the Union.”
The stimulus payments of $1,200 for eligible individuals have been made through direct deposit, but the checks have yet to be issued.
“The reason why the checks have not gone out is we’re hoping that more people, as I said, will go to irs.gov.
It’s much safer to send out direct deposits,” Mnuchin said.
“As it relates to the president’s name on it, the president could have been authorized to sign the checks but that would have slowed things down. We didn’t want to do that,” he added.
These checks or direct deposited funds will come from the IRS and will be available to Americans with Trump's name on it. It will appear under the memo line reading, “Economic Impact Payment.”
I'm sure everyone can use it. We are in some hard times. Also, it doesn't hurt to get a little extra money. Just remember to stimulate the USA economy. Buy American made items.
