Rep. Jasmine Crockett just told the truth about the Texas Senate race, or at least the part about the silence. Breitbart reports that when an NBC reporter in St. Louis asked whether James Talarico could make Texas blue this fall, she replied, "I don't know." She refuses to stump for him or even listen to his pitch—she called his invite an "afterthought invite" to the Dallas Morning News back in June.
Now she says she won't get on the ground to help until September or October, claiming she needs to see who can actually win first. It's a cold calculus, watching the big committees and seeing nothing but silence, noting that neither side is investing cash right now. Her conclusion? The race looks like status quo.
She won't move a muscle until the money shows up.
Asked Jasmine Crockett last night in St. Louis if she thinks James Talarico can turn Texas blue this fall.
“I don't know,” she said.

Here's the part that really stings for her own supporters. She lost her own primary to Talarico in a bruising fight, and instead of owning that loss, she blames racism. She claims the best thing she can do for him is not stand on a stage with him, noting that she endorsed five other candidates in the runoff who are black. She thinks that helps more than her presence.
It seems she'd rather point fingers than fight for a win. She also casts doubt on the polls showing Talarico ahead of Ken Paxton, even though a Fox News poll found Talarico leading 51% to 48% and another survey from Texas Public Opinion Research showed him ahead 45% to 40%. But she doesn't buy any of it. The Daily Wire indicates she is skeptical of the numerous polls placing Talarico within striking distance, thinking the internals of the parties are telling the same story: that this seat stays red.
The gap between their talk and their action is massive. They say they want to win, but they won't spend a dime to prove it. They say the race is close, but their own candidate refuses to help. When a party leader admits a race is a loss before the first vote is cast, they're giving up on the voters. She says she'll wait until October to see if things change. By then, it will be too late to fix anything.
We know what happens when money doesn't flow. The polls look good, but the ground game is empty. She told New York Post — Politics that "national Democrats have not decided to dump money into Texas either." That's the real story. They don't think they can win. So why are they even running? It leaves families in Texas without a real choice or a real fight. We need leaders who show up, not ones who watch the money and walk away.
