Remember last year when Joe Biden attacked President Trump over his decision to initiate a travel ban involving China?
Now he's doing the same thing with India. But of course...this is different right? That's what the Democrats will claim anyway.
The current administration has decided to ban travel to India starting May 4th at the urging of the CDC.
Following the news that Biden would ban travel coming from India, which does not include U.S. citizens, many online noted that Biden criticized Trump for banning travel from China near the start of the pandemic.
The Trump administration announced on January 31 actions to restrict travel coming in from China during the early days of the pandemic.
Apparently, when it is a Republic proposing a commonsense measure to lower the spread of the (forbidden illness), that is xenophobic and racist.
“The White House declared a ‘public health emergency’ and — beginning on Sunday at 5 p.m. — will bar non-U.S. citizens who recently visited China from entering the United States, subject to a few exemptions,” The Washington Post reported at the time. “The new travel and quarantine measures, which appeared to be unprecedented on such a scale, were part of a rapidly evolving international response to the growing health scare.”
The day following the move by the Trump administration, Biden wrote on Twitter: “We are in the midst of a crisis with the coronavirus. We need to lead the way with science — not Donald Trump’s record of hysteria, xenophobia, and fear-mongering. He is the worst possible person to lead our country through a global health emergency.”
The hypocrisy is pathetic on Joe Biden’s part. To be fair, Biden doesn’t exactly possess a reliable track record when it comes to consistency.
Joe Biden had no qualms about lecturing Trump on leading the way with science to combat the (forbidden illness). It's funny that he is now doing the same thing. Will he have the dignity to concede that President Trump had made the right decision?
Such an outcome is doubtful; that would require self-reflection and honesty, traits that seem to be in support supply these days. Still, Jen Psaki’s verbal gymnastics will be inevitably entertaining once the next press meeting occurs.
