I think most people are aware of the Duggar Family.
I remember I watched the show 16 Kids and Counting special on TLC before they even got their TV show. I think it may have been 14 Kids and Counting at the time, or something along those lines.
As a Christian, it was good to see a nice, kind Christian family on TV. It was something wholesome to watch and my wife and I watched the show for many years. Eventually we stopped watching it, but the reason we stopped was really just because we had canceled our cable tv and didn't have anything other than basic TV channels for years.
Fast forward to today and there is a lot to say about the Duggars and really about specific family members.
But I really only want to speak directly about Josh Duggar, the oldest son of Jim Bob and Michelle.
For many years now, Josh has been popping up in the news for a variety of reasons. First, it was that he was getting married and then having kids of his own, but then things took a sour turn.
Eventually, it was revealed that he had been accused of child molestation when he was a teenager and that led to him resigning from the Family Research Council, which is a Christian lobbying organization in Washington, D.C.
Since then, things have only gotten worse.
When the Ashley Madison website leak happened and it was revealed that he had a paid account on that site, it really revealed the true character of Josh Duggar.
But it didn't even end there. Now his trial is starting this week for possession of child p***ography which is just sickening. I don't know the details of that and I don't really want to know.
According to court filings, Duggar’s father, Jim Bob Duggar, met with “church elders” after hearing his son’s admission of the alleged activities. After telling these church members what happened, they suggested a “treatment” program.
According to a statement by Jim Bob Duggar in the court filings, his son was sent to a Christian program called the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP) Training Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, for four months, until July 17, 2003.
Jim Bob Duggar also spoke to an Arkansas State Trooper, Joseph T. Hutchens, in March 2003. Hutchens gave Duggar a “very stern talk” about what could happen if he “continued such behavior.” Jim Bob Duggar told police that Hutchens said “there was nothing else to do,” according to the police report.
Well, that man, Joseph Hutchens is now serving 56 years in prison. Guess why? The same thing that Duggar is going to court for.
Again, there is so much that could be said here, but I'll leave it at that.
